Guidance Counseling
The Shalhevet Guidance Department strives to meet the individual needs of our students socially, emotionally, educationally and religiously. We believe in the importance of open dialogue and honest discussion regarding the real challenges present during the teen years.
The guidance department supports the Just Community by serving as a “safe space” for students and a partner for parents. Our goal is to help students make healthy, positive life choices, and to “think it through” before making decisions.
We achieve this level of support through one-on-one sessions, group discussions and comprehensive educational programming. Program topics range from internet safety, safe teen driving, bullying and suicide prevention education, sex ed, healthy relationships and drug and alcohol prevention education for both students and parents.
We feel strongly that in order for our student to be adequately prepared for the challenges they will face in college and beyond, we must provide them with opportunities to develop healthy coping strategies and a strong sense of self and community.
